Victoria has published further information about its 2026–27 skilled nomination program, including selection priorities and service fees.
Is the program open?
The official website currently says it will open soon. The opening date and full eligibility details are still to be announced. Previous-year applicants must submit a new Registration of Interest (ROI) when the program opens.
What is the Victorian Points Test?
The Victorian Points Test (VPT) ranks ROIs for subclass 190 and 491 nomination. It considers age, English, occupation experience, qualifications, occupation skill level, eligible partner skills and eligible Victorian employment earnings.
It is separate from the federal SkillSelect points test. The federal minimum of 65 points still applies, alongside other requirements. VPT has no fixed pass mark and does not guarantee selection.
Who is prioritised?
Victoria selects high-ranking applicants across the eligible pool and within priority groups: healthcare, social assistance, education and construction. Check the official occupation list rather than assuming every job in these sectors qualifies for priority.
Early childhood teachers with at least one year of relevant experience and Proficient or Superior English receive priority within that subgroup. Other eligible occupations can still compete.
What are the new fees?
| Service | Excluding GST | Including GST |
|---|---|---|
| Registration of Interest | AUD 60 | AUD 66 |
| 190 nomination application | AUD 180 | AUD 198 |
| 491 nomination application | AUD 180 | AUD 198 |
GST applies when the applicant is in Australia at payment. The nomination fee is payable only after an invitation and submission of a nomination application.
The ROI fee is charged once per program year; withdrawing and resubmitting during that year does not trigger another ROI fee. A new nomination application attracts a new fee each time. Fees are generally non-refundable, including when no invitation follows.
How should you prepare?
Global Consult recommends reviewing your EOI, supporting evidence and occupation code before submission. Ask for an individual assessment and recheck the published eligibility rules when the program opens.
